The Korsteel Stainless Steel Tom Thumb Pelham Bit has the shorter cheek shanks that offer less leverage and are less severe than traditional longer shank pelhams. These bits are very commonly seen in hunt seat equitation classes by riders using double reins. Alternatively, they may be paired with pelham bit connectors for use with one set of reins.
- Pelham bit
- Combines the function of a snaffle and the action of a curb bit
- The top rein provides snaffle pressure to the tongue and corners of the mouth
- The bottom rein increases leverage and curb chain pressure
- The Tom Thumb cheeks are shorter than on a traditional pelham
- This is a better bit for a less experienced rider due to the reduced curb action available
- The single joint applies a nutcracker action
- Applies pressure to the tongue, the bars of the mouth, and the horse's palate
