A leather bit is a type of horse bit made from soft and malleable leather material. Unlike metal bits, which can sometimes cause discomfort, leather bits conform to the natural shape of a horse’s mouth. These bits quickly soften due to the horse’s saliva, making them more comfortable for the horse. This bit has a half cheek design, which means it has cheekpieces on only one side of the mouthpiece. The cheekpiece prevents the bit from sliding out of the horse’s mouth when the reins are used for commands.
