The port, although narrow and somewhat low, allows room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. When the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates onto the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control.
Stage C bits are built for riders and horses who love neck reining. Horses who respond well to poll pressure are in Stage C. Features include solid mouthpieces and cheek attachments, and swivel cheeks with jointed mouthpieces or low to medium ports.
