Stage C bits are built for riders and horses who love neck reining. Horses who respond well to poll pressure are in Stage C. Features include solid mouthpieces and cheek attachments, and swivel cheeks with jointed mouthpieces or low to medium ports.
Designed for horses with sensitive mouths that need light to medium control in the competition arena. The 6" cheek offers control from tongue, lip, bar and curb pressure.
Ergonomically designed with Sarah Rose McDonald, the 3-piece design of this bit results in even pressure across the tongue, bars, and lips. The bit is wrapped with copper to help emphasize cues, with copper rings around the dogbone as well.

The 6-inch cheek has a 2-1/2-inch purchase and a 3-1/2-inch shank. This ratio (the difference in the length of the purchase and shank) and the swept-back design of the shank make this a mild cheek.
The port, although narrow and somewhat low, allows room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit. When the reins are engaged and the mouthpiece rotates onto the tongue, it applies two concentrated points of pressure on the tongue for quick control.
The MB 43HP does not rotate onto the tongue but instead sits solidly across the bars and lips of the horse’s mouth. The port is narrower than a Level 3 mouthpiece, but still offers room for the horse’s tongue to pass under the bit.
The MB 03 rotates onto the tongue, applying tongue pressure, the curved mouthpiece wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching. The barrel in the center applies approximately the same pressure on the tongue as a traditional three-piece mouthpiece.
The port allows the horse to swallow and move his tongue when he is moving forward and relaxed, which acts as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved, and it wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.
This 3" purchase and 3" shank makes this a true lifter bit by increasing leverage and shoulder control. Sloping shank softens and slows bit action to add control without intimidation.
Call in the Specialist! When your horse enters Stage E he's asking for some time with the pros. These are correction bits and should be used by experienced riders only. Here tiny twists, very high ports, and highly complex mouthpieces are key components.
